Community Champions,

In an increasingly remote setting, modern planning and engagement teams need viable ways to collect and maintain community input at scale. This month, I teamed up with practice professionals to share tips for beginners to seasoned professionals.

 

 

 

 

Increase site traffic

 

 

Include your engagement site URL in your email signature. Send an email template to community groups and ask if they can leverage it with their email list to promote initiatives. Follow up with previous participants about similar projects. Read 50 ways to promote your engagement project.

 

 

 

 

Curate project search & discovery

 

 

Couple project showcase and finder with tags to organise consultations and make them effortless to find for both you and your community. Name your tags in meaningful and consistent ways, categories could include: Transport, Petitions, Waste Management, Parks, Care, Community, Sports & Leisure.

 

 

 

 

Engage across channels

 

 

The polarity of how people access and respond to different mediums is very real. Add projects to one immersive space, like your corporate website or a marketing landing page with Project Finder. Run hybrid in-person workshops with the Ideas tool or add Engagement Embeds into key user flows on your website and get feedback in context.

 

 

 

 

Schedule regular housekeeping

 

 

Review project adoption and promotion tactics; what’s working? What’s not? Benchmark success metrics for project types. Close off previous years by deleting unused tags and archiving old projects and tools, identify what is published by running a tool report. Refresh your homepage. Enable social sign-on, and don’t forget about advanced participant imports to centralise lists from other teams or departments.

Time poor and finding it difficult to close the loop? Use the ' Custom Report' option in Survey Analysis to select a few key results from previous surveys and upload them to update projects. Filter participants by project tag - create groups, tag and segment your community for personalised updates leveraging newsletters.
