Developed based on popular demand we are introducing what will effectively be a new question type: The Year Only Question.
It is an improvement on our current date picker question type, which is available in Surveys and Signup Forms and, if used as a Year of Birth question in the signup form, is going to be very handy in your participant grouping. Here is how it works:
Part 1:
The question type "Date" in our Survey tool and the Signup Form now has an additional option to only ask for the year, ignoring day and month. When enabled, participants will see an input box with an optional dropdown containing the last 100 years and going some 50 years into the future.
Part 2:
The above wouldn't mean much, in particular in the signup form, if it did not feed back into your participant database, but now it does 🎉
The same way you can filter by any other signup form question, with the year of birth option you can now also filter by year with "on or after" or a "before" filter. Combining both with the same year acts as a filter for that year alone.
How you can best use this in your existing signup form
Using this question type as a Year of Birth question in a signup form can potentially be a little complex if you already have lots of participants registered. It might be even more complex if you also have asked an age type question, e.g. you have set up a dropdown manually with years or have been asking for age in brackets. Further, there are a few general limitations in changing an existing registration form.
Having said that, this should not discourage you from introducing a Year of Birth question and we recommend you get in touch with your Bang the Table Engagement Manager before proceeding to talk through the details. We will be able to give you advise and move this forward together.
